Edit Monitor
Change a heartbeat monitor's schedule or grace period — without losing its history.
You can change a heartbeat monitor’s settings after it’s created. History and incidents are preserved, and the ping URL stays the same.
Open the monitor
From Monitors, click the monitor, then choose Edit (or Settings).
What you can change
- Name — rename without affecting history.
- Schedule — update the interval or cron expression if the job’s timing changes.
- Grace period — widen it if a job legitimately takes longer sometimes, or tighten it to catch misses faster.
- Max duration — adjust the threshold for “still running” alerts.
- Alerts — which channels it notifies and the alert timing.
The ping URL does not change when you edit, so you don’t need to touch your job’s code.
Pause instead of edit
If a job is intentionally disabled for a while, pause the monitor rather than deleting it — Spectra stops expecting beats (no false “missed” alerts) but keeps the history, and you can resume any time.
Next steps
- Set up alerts · Review runs in the monitor detail view · Delete the monitor.
