Workspace roles: Owner, Admin, Member, Viewer

Four roles control what someone can do inside a single workspace — from full control down to read-only.

Workspace roles govern monitoring inside one workspace. They’re assigned per workspace, so the same person can be an Admin in Production and a Viewer in Staging. Set them under Settings → Workspace → Members, or when you invite someone.

There are four roles, from most to least access.

Workspace Owner

Full control of one workspace.

  • View, create, edit, delete, pause, and resume monitors.
  • Manage alert contacts and create or edit status pages.
  • Invite and manage workspace members and edit workspace settings.
  • Delete or transfer the workspace.

There is one Workspace Owner per workspace, set independently of the Org Owner. It does not include organization billing or plan access.

Admin

Runs the workspace day to day.

  • Everything a Member can do, plus inviting and managing workspace members and editing workspace settings.
  • Cannot delete or transfer the workspace (Owner only).
  • No billing, plan, or organization access.

Member

The everyday monitoring role.

  • View, create, edit, delete, pause, and resume monitors.
  • Manage alert contacts and create or edit status pages.
  • Cannot invite or manage members, or change workspace settings.
  • No billing or organization access.

Viewer

Read-only.

  • See monitors, incidents, and status pages.
  • Cannot create, edit, or delete anything.

Ideal for stakeholders or clients who need visibility without the ability to change your setup.
