Create Monitor

A ping monitor sends ICMP echo requests to a host to confirm it’s reachable and measure latency and packet loss. Open Monitors → Add monitor and choose Ping.

1. Host

• Name — a label for your dashboard and alerts.
• Host — an IPv4 address, IPv6 address, or hostname/FQDN. Hostnames are re-resolved via DNS on each check.

2. Interval and regions

• Check interval — how often to ping (down to 30 seconds on paid plans).
• Regions — where the pings run from. An outage is confirmed from 2+ regions before alerting, so a single congested path never pages you.

3. What it measures

Once running, the monitor tracks:

• Availability — is the host reachable?
• Latency — round-trip time.
• Packet loss — the percentage of lost packets, an early sign of trouble.

4. Alerts and save

Attach the alert channels and Save — the first check runs immediately.

Internal hosts

Public hosts work out of the box. To ping a private or internal IP, use a private location agent.
